1.125" bore diameter, 22.5" octagonal to round barrel, NSN. The Oliver Allen Percussion Whaling Gun was the first commercially successful shoulder-fired whaling gun. Developed around 1846 by Oliver Allen of Norwich, Connecticut, this massive, heavy-recoil firearm completely changed the dangerous 19th-century whaling industry. Gun is all steel construction with a skeleton stock. Inside action with brass tip ramrod under the barrel. All metal has a nice untouched browning patina. Overall this whaling rifle is very sharp and crisp.  Maintaining one of the bomb lances in the bore. The only number on the rifle is "8".
