An exceptional 19th-century Indian Zaghnal designed for elite shock cavalry. Originating from the northern and central princely states of India, the zaghnal was highly favored by Maratha, Rajput, and Sikh warriors for its ability to puncture heavy plate and mail armor with devastating force. Zaghanal on its Original Reinforced hardwood shaft.  The Axe of unusual form pieced towards the rear and Damascened in gold koftgari with lines and blossoms.  Excellent condition overall.
