.22 caliber, 3.25" barrel, S/N 122438 A historic Smith & Wesson Model No. 1 Second Issue Seven-Shot Pocket Revolver, celebrated as America’s first successful metallic cartridge firearm. Widely purchased as a private backup weapon by Union soldiers during the Civil War, this Second Issue is instantly recognizable by its streamlined, flat-sided brass frame and irregular left-side plate. Blue barrel and cylinder with silver plated brass frame. Rosewood grips. The barrel and cylinder showcase an even look with some original blue finish turning to a plum patina. The frame has been lightly cleaned with some of the silver finish remaining. The rosewood grips are very good.
