.36 caliber, 4.75" octagonal to round barrel, NSN. Manufactured during the 1840s to 1860s by renowned American makers such as Allen & Thurber, Bacon & Co., and various New England cottage-industry gunsmiths, these compact firearms were the premier self-defense choice of the antebellum era. Designed for deep concealment, this pistol features the distinctive "bar hammer" design. Notched rear barrel sight and front blade sight. Under hammer with walnut grips. The metal is mostly gray to brown with nice sharp and crisp edges. The grips are very good and retain most of the original varnished finish.
