.30 - 40 caliber, 30" barrel length, S/N 139548 (ca. 1920). The Winchester Model 1885 High-Wall Rifle is one of the most celebrated single-shot falling-block rifles ever designed. Patented by the genius John Moses Browning in 1879 and manufactured by Winchester from 1885 to 1920, the High-Wall variant was designed to chamber the era's largest and highest-pressure black powder and early smokeless cartridges. Blue barrel and frame. Barrel mounted with a Lyman 5A scope and blocks. Rear barrel with a sight seat. Hooded front sight, rear mid range tang sight. Walnut forearm with ebony tip. Walnut sock with a Swiss buttplate. All metal retains nearly all of the blue finish. The lever still retains most of the case colors just lightly faded. The scope optics ar clear. The stock and forearm are excellent with minimal nicks and Dings. The bore is excellent bright and shiny. Overall excellent rifle and one of the final specimens mad in the final months of the original manufacturing cycles.
