.31 caliber, 4.5" ribbed barrel length, S/N 1623. Manufactured in Windsor, Vermont, this model stands out as one of the most technologically advanced and unique pepperbox variations ever conceived. Unlike other pepperboxes of the era, the Robbins & Lawrence system features a stationary, non-rotating barrel cluster. Instead, drawing back the sleek ring trigger actuates an internal, revolving firing pin that indexes from chamber to chamber automatically. Additionally, the pistol incorporates an ingenious hinged breech loading action depressing a latch allows the entire ribbed barrel block to tip forward 90 degrees, cleanly exposing the nipples for capping and enabling the barrel assembly to unscrew for rapid loading. Marked on the rib "Robbins & Lawrence, Windsor VT". Engraved frame and the back of the barrels. Rosewood grips. This pepperbox is excellent overall. It displays well with traces of finish scattered throughout. Overall excellent .
