.22 caliber, 22" round barrel length, S/N J 29. An extraordinary pairing that captures the essence, showmanship, and intimate home life of America’s most legendary sharpshooter, Annie Oakley. This lot features a beautifully preserved custom-embellished J. Stevens single-shot rifle paired alongside a rare, framed period textile with presentation to Annie's mentor. The J. Stevens company shared an illustrious, verified connection to Oakley; she famously favored their ultra-accurate, lightweight single-shot platforms for her close-range precision and trick-shooting gallery work. While her personal, factory-engraved Model 44 commanded a staggering $528,900 at auction, the legendary Stevens "Favorite" and its companion target actions remain the definitive representation of her public legacy as an educator and performer. This custom specimen features a round barrel layout and half magazine tube, a case-hardened receiver frame and walnut stocks. The smooth falling-block mechanism mirrors the exact configurations Oakley and her husband-manager Frank Butler demanded for flawless presentation speed and balance. Complementing the firearm is an exceptionally rare, beautifully framed presentation textile. Away from the roar of the arena, Annie Oakley was a known as a talented needleworker. She frequently spent her quiet hours between grueling traveling performances embroidering complex textiles, linens, and target medallions to gift to close friends, visiting international royalty, and adoring fans. This piece embroidered with floral designs is an exquisite example of American folk art and an intimate window into the private life of the sharpshooting icon. This gift to the Darke Country Infirmary in memory of her girlhood memories thanking Mrs. Crawford Edington for teaching her for the skills and true meaning to be a "Straight Shooter".  The textile presented nicely in a frame hand painted presentation and two images of Annie shooting. The barrel and magazine tube finished in blue. The frame was case colored.  The frame has a silver medallion mounted on both sides of the famous Annie Oakley.  This rifle and the framed textile are in very good condition.
