25-20 W.C.F. caliber, 24" Octagonal barrel, S/N 456402. The Winchester Model 1892 Take Down Lever Action rifle is one of the most highly sought-after configurations of John Browning's legendary pistol-caliber design. While a standard Model 1892 is a masterpiece of smooth, fast-cycling engineering, the "Take Down" variant features a specialized split-frame mechanism that allows the user to easily separate the barrel and magazine tube from the receiver with a simple twist. This made it the ultimate packable companion for 19th-century travelers and explorers. Finished with a blue barrel, frame and buttplate. Walnut stock and forearm. All metal retaining some of the original blue finish. With some thinning on the take down ring and on the bottom of the frame and the high edges. Some nicks and dings on the stock. The bore is very good.
