An authentic, early Hudson's Bay Company trade axe. Manufactured in Europe and shipped to North American frontier outposts, these iron axes served as primary currency during the heights of the fur trade. They were highly prized by Native American hunters and trappers across the Great Lakes, Northern Plains, and Canadian subarctic for their exceptional durability and dual utility as a survival tool and weapon. Late 18th or early 19th century French Fur Trade Axe. The 9 inch blade with blacksmith double crossed arrow hallmark, mounted on a 26 inch wooden handle. Overall good aged condition.
