.45 caliber, 4.25" octagonal barrel, S/N 2843.  In the early 1850s, London’s gun quarter was locked in an arms race. Samuel Colt had just shaken the British establishment by opening his automated factory on the Thames, forcing elite English makers to innovate or perish. Master gunmaker Joseph Lang responded not with mass production, but with bespoke mechanical art. This specific transitional revolver showcases that pivotal design era. Melding the multi-shot capability of the older pepperbox with the accuracy of a single rifled barrel, Lang created a remarkably balanced, heavy-caliber sidearm. Embellished from hammer to butt-cap in tight, elegant English floral scrollwork, this weapon was a status symbol engineered for life-or-death reliability. Blued barrel with a notched rear barrel sight and the front blade.  Case colored frame, hammer, fluted cylinder and a spring loaded loading lever.  Checkered walnut grips with finely engraved metal cap and a lanyard ring.  This revolver is finely engraved with vines and floral designs.   Cased in a very nice English style Oak case with maroon colored lining.  Nice Joseph Lang Manufacture paper label on the inside lid.  Case with mold, flask and rosewood handle wrench.  Also in the case is the rosewood cleaning rod and can of percussion caps.  This set is in excellent condition with the pistol having most of the bright original blue finish and case colors.  The tools and flask are excellent.  The case is excellent.
