.265 caliber, 3.5" barrel, S/N 10130. Offered here is an outstanding, highly desirable Colt Model 1855 Side hammer "Root" Pocket Revolver presented in a magnificent, period-original factory casing. Manufactured during the height of Colt’s mid-19th-century innovation, the Model 1855 stands as a landmark design. It represents Colt’s very first solid-frame handgun utilizing a top strap and a distinctive spur trigger. Named for legendary Colt superintendent Elisha K. Root, this sophisticated firearm departed radically from the open-top configurations of its predecessors, offering unmatched rigidity and a completely unobstructed sightline. Blue finish with case colored hammer, lever and bright blue screws.  The case has the original cleaning rod, mold and Eagle flask.  Original mahogany case with faded red lining.  Original brass mold, extra fine original eagle flask with original lacquer and the original cleaning rod.  The pistol maintains most of the bright original blue finish.  The hammer has some of the light faded case color .  Overall this pistol is excellent.
