.45 caliber, 1.5" round barrel, S/N 38719.  Offered here is a fascinating piece of frontier history and a unique representation of Old West lethal ingenuity. A 19th-century Colt Custom "Avenging Angel" Snub-Nosed Revolver. Famously named after Orin Porter Rockwell and the Danite enforcers of the early Mormon church, "Avenging Angels" were the definitive "belly guns" of the American West, customized by local gunsmiths or owners to maximize close-quarters concealability. All matching numbers with one piece walnut grips. Three-line patent dates. This revolver shows a nice western use with even wear. The metal has a nice even look throughout with a nice untouched patina. A very crisp action. Wear to the grips with some nicks and dings.
