45-70 caliber, 32" full octagonal barrel length, S/N 2328. Manufactured between 1880 and 1888 under the original "E. Remington & Sons" banner, this highly regarded single-shot falling-block rifle was designed by Lewis Hepburn—Remington’s mechanical department superintendent and an acclaimed Creedmoor international marksman. Featuring Hepburn’s patented side-lever activation and rebounding hammer system, the action remains celebrated as one of the strongest, most elegant single-shot designs of the late 19th-century black powder era. Blue barrel with case colored frame.  The rifle has rear tang sight, rear folding barrel sight and a front sight a blade.  Checkered pistol grip stock with checkered forearm and metal tip. The barrel retains most of the original blue finish with light wear to the high edges. The frame retains most of the case colors; just lightly turning a little dark. Mostly vivid.  The stock and forearm are excellent. The bore is bright and shiny like a mirror.  An outstanding Hepburn with rare 32" octagonal barrel length.
