.36 caliber, 42" octagonal barrel, NSN. The Silver-Mounted Henry E. Leman Full-Stock Percussion Long Rifle represents a spectacular, upper-tier example of 19th-century Pennsylvania long rifle. Henry Eichholtz Leman (1812–1887) was one of the most prolific and celebrated rifle makers in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. While he is historically famous for producing thousands of utilitarian, faux-striped "Trade Rifles" for the American fur trade and Western Native American tribes, his custom, full-stock long rifles featuring genuine coin silver mountings were bespoke, high-grade firearms crafted for wealthy local citizens and Pennsylvania marksmen. Standard Leman rifles utilized brass or iron furniture. A silver-mounted variant represents a premium, deluxe order. This includes a coin-silver patchbox, silver trigger guard, silver sideplates, and decorative silver geometric or crescent inlays (such as a hunter's star) pinned along the length of the wooden stock. Decorated with two silver bands near the breech and marked on top of the barrel and the lockplate "H.Leman". Notched rear sight and blade front sight. Silver mounted tiger maple stock with checkered wrist.  Silver Engraved four piece patchbox, double set triggers, engraved silver triggerguard with a engraved toe plate that extends from triggerguard to tip of buttplate. An engraved silver oval inlay in the cheekpiece.  The barrel features an untouched plum-brown patina that remains completely honest to its age. Minor, superficial staining is present on areas of the barrel and the lock plate, consistent with traditional black powder usage and age-related oxidation, preserving the firearm's mechanical integrity and historic character. The full stock is structurally sound and exhibits a smooth, clean appearance, suggesting it may have undergone a sympathetic, professional cleaning in the distant past. It retains its crisp architectural lines and displays the wood grain beautifully.  The custom coin-silver furniture and geometric inlays provide an extraordinary visual contrast against the dark wood and aged iron. Pristine and visually vibrant, the silver elements remain highly pronounced, giving this historic piece immense display appeal and a powerful presence.
