.36 caliber, 36" octagonal barrel, NSN. This is a highly decorative silver mounted half stock "Burnside" marked percussion sporting rifle. Rifles of this statue were custom made rifles by gunsmiths that purchased parts from the Burnside Company.  These rifles were special customer order pieces of a highly ornate nature.  Patent breech, notched rear barrel sight and blade front sight.  Double set triggers. Engraved back-action lock with "Burnside Rifle Co, Provenance RI".  Maker's silver escutcheon located on the barrel.  Fancy walnut stock with many silver inlays throughout.  Nice border around the cheek piece and triggerguard and the front of the lock.  Engraved silver patchbox, buttplate, triggerguard, ramrod and ferules.  Overall a great rifle with a nice even untouched look. Stock is excellent.
