.40 caliber, 3.25" cannon style barrel, NSN. Offered here is an example of an 18th-century personal defense; a French Flintlock Muff Pistol. Popular among the upper classes of European society during the Georgian and Louis XV/XVI eras, these ultra-compact firearms were specifically engineered to be discreetly concealed inside a gentleman’s waistcoat pocket or tucked within a lady’s fur muff hand-warmer. The barrel and the lock have a nice light brown patina that evenly matches and blends well. The walnut stock with empire butt. It has nice checkering with a few nicks and Dings.  Overall excellent sharp and crisp. Comes with the original tool to take the barrel off.
