16 gauge, 29" octagonal to round barrel, NSN. During the early 19th century, London was the epicenter of luxury firearms innovation, and master gunmaker Richard Fenton sat at the vanguard of that revolution. Operating from his renowned shop at 19 Shoemaker Row, Blackfriars, Fenton was not merely a merchant, he was an acclaimed marksman in the elite Duke of Cumberland Sharpshooters and a mechanical pioneer who introduced cutting-edge low-profile sighting systems to the trade. Engraved patent breech with engraved forward action percussion lock. Finely checkered walnut stock and steel furniture.  The lock and hammer have a nice mottled blue look and is sharp and crisp. The barrel may have been a period re-finish. The bore is bright and shiny.  Overall a very sharp and crisp shotgun. The stock has some nicks and dings.
