.645 bore diameter, 28" octagonal flared muzzle barrel length, NSN. The early 18th-century German Jaeger flintlock rifle was a revolutionary firearm that evolved out of the Germanic forest regions. Derived from 16th-century wheel-lock hunting arms, the flintlock Jaeger was built specifically for marksmen and hunters that required high power and precision in deep wilderness and forested areas.  While this barrel is marked from Madrid, during the 17th and 18th centuries, barrels were highly desired from Madrid and the Basque region, completing a finely crafted Jaeger Rifle. The entire barrel with deep chiseled, faceted steel surface accented with gold markings.  Top of the barrel is marked near the breech on the left flat "En Madrid" between hall marks in gold.  The top flat of the barrel is marked with "ANO" and dated "1719".  Two leaf rear folding notched rear barrel sight, blade front sight.  Double set triggers with with brass triggerguard. Flat style lockplate engraved in the rear, engraved hammer.  Fancy finial on the frizzen spring. Brass furniture, engraved buttplate, triggerguard and the rear ramrod ferule.  Walnut stock with raised carving in the rear on the left side, behind the the tang and around the wood sliding door and on the patchbox.  Bone inlay on the patchbox cover with button to slide open the cover.  Finely checkered pattern with silver nails. Fine carving behind the tang with a bone inlay shield and the initial "T".  Fine carving in the front of the triggerguard and around the rear ramrod ferule. Nice border lines running parallel with the ramrod channel. The barrel is nice with a gray brown patina.  The lock is mostly a gunmetal gray.  The stock has nice dark patina in the protected areas.  The brass has a nice untouched dark patina.  The bone nosecap has a small place where it was restored and is a very nice job.  The bore on this rifle is excellent. The rifle is fantastic overall.
