2" bore diameter, 29.5" octagonal to round barrel, NSN. A highly formidable example of an early 18th-century European defensive firearm, dating to circa 1720. This massive German blunderbuss is defined by its extraordinary 2" bore diameter at the flared muzzle, designed to deliver a devastating spread of shot at close range. Flared tang with rounded hammer and lockplate. Nicely hand cut sideplate. Walnut buttstock with thick butt. Brass buttplate and triggerguard. Molding around the comb of the stock. Molding around the lockplate area and on the left side around the sideplate. Nice carving behind the tang and around the rear ramrod ferule. All metal has been cleaned in the European manner. The brass furniture has some engraving. The stock has had some restoration on the front around the muzzle. A very good restoration that it does not distract from the overall appearance. The stock with some nicks and dings.
