.680 bore diameter, 6" brass barrel length with folding bayonet on the top of the barrel, NSN. Known as an innovator among the English gun makers, Edward Bate was active from 1763 - 1810. Running a shop on Brownlow Street, Long Acre, Bate achieved acclaim as a Master Contractor to the Board of Ordnance.  Brass barrel with Birmingham proofs on the left side of the breech.  Lockplate engraved and marked with the name, "Bate".  Safety on the lock. Walnut stock with brass engraved triggerguard. The lockplate and the bayonet have a nice gray to brown even patina.  The brass has nicely aged. The stock has some nicks and dings.  Overall very good to excellent.  Mechanically sound.
