30-06 caliber, 26" barrel, S/N 582308. The workhorse of firearms for the U.S. Military during the first World War. The Model 1917 equipped about 75% of the front line forces in France. Born out of the British Pattern 14, American factories re-engineered it to take .30-06 ammo making it a very robust bolt action rifle. The barrel is marked behind the front sight "R" over "flaming bomb 9-18". Blue finish with walnut stock and handguard. All metal retains most of the original blue finish - just lightly fading. The stock and handguard with nice open grained look. The stock has crisp cartouche "RA-P" in rectangular box. Overall this is an excellent 1917 rifle that is mechanically functional with an excellent bore.
