30-40 caliber, 22" barrel length, S/N 229532. As the final and most refined iteration of the famous Krag-Jørgensen rotary-magazine system used by the United States military. The 1899 was developed to replace the older Model 1896 carbine, and was specifically for cavalry operations during the Philippine-American War and early 20th century border deployments. The Krag Model 1899 Carbine features a distinctly elongated receiver and a longer forearm stock that eliminates the need for a separate handguard ring. It is recoginzed by its smooth, ultra-fluid bolt operation and its unique side-loading magazine door, which allows the operator to instantly drop five loose cartridges into the capsule without the use of a stripper clip.  This Krag 1899 has a blue barrel, with a mottle blue receiver and walnut stock and handguard.  Springfield hood over the front sight, 98 Carbine rear barrel sight.  Headless cocking piece.  The front band, triggerguard and buttplate maintain most of the original blue finish. The barrel retains nearly all of the original arsenal finish. The receiver with nice mottle blue look.  The receiver is marked "1899".  The stock has a nice untouched look with some nicks and dings consistent with use. The left side of the stock is stamped with small font size letters "CG PlumB".  Has a very nice untouched "JSA/1899" cartouche, with excellent circle "P" behind the triggerguard.  The bore is good, the carbine is excellent mechanically.
