31" spear point blade with center fuller and etched panels of Military Motifs.  Offered here is an extraordinarily US Model 1850 Staff & Field Officers Presentation Sword. A first year production of this iconic regulation pattern's history. Custom-commissioned from the country’s preeminent master cutler, N.P. Ames, this presentation piece was formally awarded to a distinguished officer or instructor by "The Academy Club" in 1850. The Academy Club is more than likely connected to the United States Naval Academy and or West Point. Academy clubs were fraternal in nature and recognized distinguished members, officers or instructor's. Engraved and gilt finish scabbard. With presentation inscription.
