.36 caliber, 7.5" Octagonal barrel, S/N 80589. This is a second contract Army/Navy in the 80,000 serial range.  Being in the 80,000 range indicates this is a desirable pre-Civil War procurement by U.S. Army Ordnance Department contract.  While issued and saw use in Texas and the western front, what makes this revolver even more scarce is the "Hartford" address on the barrel. In 1857, Colt temporarily switched the markings on the barrel from the New York address to Harfford on a few select military contracts. While the Hartford address was common near the Civil War, finding one in the 80,000 range in a military contract block is very rare.  Making this revolver a very collectible and desirable variant. The revolver has no frame markings more than likely polished off when it was arsenal refinish.  It has sub inspector initials on the barrel, the backstrap, the cylinder, and the triggerguard.  All  numbers match.  The barrel with single line and scarce "Hartford" address.  The barrel displays traces of blue finish with a sharp and crisp look.  The cylinder has nice sharp and crisp cylinder scene with a hint of the blue finish.  The frame has a mottled gray look.  The loading lever has some of the case colors.  This is a nice Army /Navy percussion revolver.
