.50 caliber, 20" octagonal to round barrel, S/N 23369. The Maynard Carbine stands out as one of the most brilliant and mechanically efficient breech-loading designs issued to Union cavalry regiments during the American Civil War. Patented by dental surgeon and firearms inventor Dr. Edward Maynard, the rifle is famous for its simple, robust lever-action mechanism. Lowering the lever actuates a pivoting barrel that hinges upward at the breech, providing the trooper with an incredibly rapid loading cycle. Blue barrel with a case colored frame. The barrel has sub-inspector initials on the left flat of  barrel.  Patent markings on the left side of the frame and "Mass" Markings on the right side of the frame.  Three leaf rear barrel sight. A nice crisp untouched walnut stock with nice oiled open gran.  Left side of the stock with two mint cartouches. Some minimal nicks and Dings.  The barrel retains most of the blue finish.  The frame retains most of the bright case colors with the bottom tang lightly thinning.  The bore is Bright and shiny.
