32" blade with spear point.  A highly prized example of a US Mounted Artillery Sword, dating to the crucial interwar period between the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War. Developed from late 18th-century British light cavalry designs, this rugged and menacing pattern was specifically manufactured for the elite horse artillery units of the United States Army.  Engraved with blue and gilt designs. Brass guard with Eagle on the side of the guard and the pommel. Brass backstrap and pommel.  Brass scabbard with gilt finish. Grooved bone handle. The blue is lightly faded, the gilt is some what faded.  Overall this sword is very good to excellent. Few dints in the scabbard.
