30" curved clip point blade, with gilt engraving and military panoply. Rare US Marine Officers sword first quarter of the 19th century. Officially adopted under the tenure of the legendary 5th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Colonel Archibald Henderson, this pattern remains the oldest weapon design still in active ceremonial service within the United States Armed Forces. Mameluke style hilt, engraved gilt brass cross guard. Engraved bone handle.  Engraved gilt brass scabbard. The blade is mostly a gray brown patina.  The gilt is still present, but faded.  The guard and handle with gilt light fading.  A small chip out of the right handle with a crack thru the middle rivet.  The scabbard has some dents.  Still retains some of the gilt.  Very good for such a rare pattern 1825 Marine Corp sword.
