.40 caliber, 26" octagonal barrel, S/N 224 This rare First Model P.W. Porter revolving rifle is one of about 300 produced.  20 of the 300 were used in military trials.  With all the characteristics including the radial turret design patented by Porter. This is an amazing and rare find for a collector.   The numbers match on the cylinder, frame and barrel.  Marked on the right flat of the Barrell Address, "P.W. Porter, New York.  P.W. Porter Patented". Blue barrel and case harden frame and 9 shot cylinder. Walnut stock with rifle style buttplate.  Straight style mule ear hammer.  Serpent shaped loading lever mounted on top of the barrel.  Offset notched rear barrel sight and offset front blade sight.  All metal is sharp and crisp with smooth and nice untouched brown patina.  The markings are clear and nice and proud.  The stock has been cleaned year ago.  The bore is bright and shiny with sharp and crisp rifling.  Overall an excellent example of a rare First model Porter Revolving rifle.
