.36 caliber, 27" Octagonal to round barrel, S/N 78. Top of barrel marked Address S. Colt Hartford Ct USA. The Colt Model 1855 Revolving Rifle was designed by Elisha K Root and manufactured by Colt.  The design and concept was for military and used by Sharpshooters during the Civil War.  Produced between 1856 - 1864. Blue finish with select walnut stock. Original cleaning rod on the left side of barrel also with the original oiler.  The barrel, frame and triggerguard retain most of the nice original blue finish.  The cylinder is a nice dark plum patina with a very clear cylinder scene.  The stock is excellent.  This rifle is excellent overall with a lot of original finish and an extremely low serial number.
