.58 caliber, 33" barrel length with rifled with three land and grooves, NSN. Representing the first standard-issue percussion ignition rifle adopted by the United States military, the Model 1841 completely revolutionized the combat capabilities of the regular army and volunteer militias. Known for its exceptional accuracy, the rifle earned its eternal moniker as the "Mississippi Rifle" during the Mexican-American War. 1855 style long range rear sight, blade front sight, lug for saber bayonet on the right side of the barrel. Left side of the barrel marked "V P Eagle" near the breech. Marked on the barrel 1.5" from the breech "WW".  This rifle with a nice untouched look.  The stock with some nicks and dings.  The mortice is nice sharp on both sides with a clear and readable "JLR" cartouche.  Overall this is an excellent Mississippi rifle.
