52 caliber, 21" barrel rifled with six lands and grooves, NSN. Staying true to John Hall's patented breech loading sytem, North mastered the manufacturing with interchangable parts and converting the old flint to the new and improved percussion ignition system. Top of breechblock marked "U.S. S. North S. Mid Conn" and dated "1841". Marked "28" behind the triggerguard with a trumpet shaped ramrod. All metal displays some of the original brown finish with sharp lines. The breechblock and hammer still the dark mottled blue finish. The stock with some nicks and dings. The stock displays a visible cartouche with a ding through it. There is a small ding in the left side of the frame. The bore is very good to excellent. Overall a very good example of this rare carbine.
