Offered here is a U.S. Silver-Hilted Mounted Officer’s Saber, dating precisely to the turn of the 19th century (circa 1800). Commissioned during the Federal Period an era when military officers privately purchased their own sidearms to reflect their wealth, patriotism, and social stature. 33" clip point blade, Silver mounted guard with White Grip. The guard is engraved on the backstrap and on the pommel. The blade is mostly dark brown patina, smooth with some dark staining.  The grip has two tiny chips out near the guard under neath.  The guard near the pommel with a dent. Overall this early sword is in good condition.
