A Japanese cast bronze hand cannon, designed primarily as an incendiary fire-arrow launcher (hiya tantsusu ) or signaling device. The weapon features a thick-walled, heavy-gauge bronze barrel with a distinctively stepped and reinforced muzzle. The exterior of the barrel is decorated in traditional Japanese tradition. 4.5" in length with sighting through a groove on top leading to a small front blade sight. Fishtail style handle. Overall nice dark patina and very good condition.
