An exceptionally fine, rare, and highly collectible example of an all-steel Indian Talwar. Famously wielded by the warrior clans of the Rajputs, Marathas, and Sikhs, the Talwar was a devastatingly efficient combat weapon designed to deliver a deadly draw-cut slash from horseback. While many civilian or courtly pieces were decorated with fragile overlay work, all-steel variants constructed strictly for actual martial application are highly prized by advanced arms and armor collectors for their architectural purity and robust handling characteristics. The hilt of classic form well chiseled throughout. The steel shaft ending in a flanged mace. Most of these are late 19th century ‘tourist’ pieces. This is a genuine and rare 18th century weapon made for use.
