41" blade, 9" fuller. The long blade with central fuller flanked by two narrow ones signed “HERNANDEZ” in fuller. The complex swept hilt profusely inlaid throughout with silver wire in interweaved patterns. Excellent wood grip bound with twisted steel wire surmounted with “Turks Heads”. Fine matching silver inlaid pommel decorated en suite with hilt. Minor wear to inlay however mostly intact. Early 17th century decorated homogenous rapiers are rarely found on the auction market. Most are composite at best or 19th century additions to period swords.
