An exceptionally elegant, well-proportioned, and authentic late 16th-century Italian high-comb morion, representing the definitive infantry helmet design of the late Renaissance. This classic form was championed by Spanish conquistadors, Italian city-state guards, and mercenary forces clash-testing the shifting battlefields of the European Wars of Religion. The well wrought skill in one piece with roped decoration. Roped border peaks on brim. Fine condition throughout with most of the original blue finish. A most attractive example of Italian master armor making.
